It has not been the dream season that New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns was hoping to have. While he is still averaging strong figures of 21.8 points and 12.7 rebounds, there is one stat that is taking a concerning downward trend.
Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns is struggling from three-point range
So far this season, Towns is shooting just 32.9% from three, which is a career-low mark for him. That figure is also nearly 10 percentage points lower than his three-point mark from last season, and his shooting woes are becoming a big concern for both him and the Knicks.
Three-pointers are usually Towns’ biggest strength offensively, but it has been a rough go for him thus far. On Monday against the Miami Heat, Towns shot just 1-for-7 from three-point range, a significant factor in their inability to secure their first road win of the season.

Despite the struggles Towns is enduring, he says he plans to stay aggressive.
“I’m going to keep shooting, keep being aggressive. Keep finding ways to impact winning and hopefully help us win games,” Towns said (h/t Posting and Toasting).
The Knicks need Towns to get going
What is perhaps the most alarming part of Towns’ struggles is that head coach Mike Brown’s system is meant to help him offensively. The point of bringing in an offensive-minded head coach was to maximize the scoring talent across the roster, but it seems to be having the opposite effect on Towns at this point.

It is still early in the season, so the hope is that he can find his rhythm from outside the arc and return to being the sharpshooter that he normally is. They have their next game against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
That will be the best time for Towns to return to form.
