Knicks Finalize Training Camp Roster After Flurry Of Signings

September 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

NEW YORK — The Knicks have acted with urgency all summer. Every move has reflected their championship-or-bust approach. With Media Day set for September 23, the Knicks training camp roster is officially locked in. Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reported the details, which reveal the final shape of the 21-man group heading to Abu Dhabi.

The Knicks will play the Philadelphia 76ers on October 2 and 4 in the United Arab Emirates. The roster includes 12 players on guaranteed deals, six on non-guaranteed contracts, and three on two-way slots. New addition Guerschon Yabusele will report on schedule. He is the lone Knick to have competed in EuroBasket.

Two-Way Contracts Finalized

So it’s all in one place, here are Knicks’ three players on two-way deals entering training camp, per SNY sources:

The Knicks also filled all three two-way slots. Former Nets forward Tosan Evbuomwan, ex-Lakers forward-center Trey Jemison III, and 2024 draft pick Kevin McCullar Jr. signed on. According to insider Ian Begley, these moves lock in the developmental pipeline. These players will spend much of the year in Westchester but remain available as depth during the season.

Knicks waived Dink Pate and Bryson Warren. Both were on Exhibit 10 deals and will have financial incentive ($85,000) to join the Westchester Knicks, the franchise’s G League team.

Non-Guaranteed Competition Heats Up

The Knicks training camp battle will also feature several veterans on non-guaranteed deals. Malcolm Brogdon headlines the group. His one-year deal is not about ability but about cap priorities. Brogdon remains productive, capable of steady minutes as a bench combo guard. He joins Landry Shamet and Garrison Mathews, both signed on short-term deals, in competing for a final roster spot.

The Knicks could keep both Brogdon and Shamet if they move a player. Pacôme Dadiet and Tyler Kolek are leading candidates. Dadiet, the 2024 first-round pick, struggled as a rookie, while Kolek’s value may lie more as a trade chip. Second-round pick in June’s draft, Mohamed Diawara is on a non-guaranteed deal as the front office weighs using its second round exception on him.

The other non-guaranteed names are Matt Ryan and Alex Len. Ryan, 28, played 19 games for New York last season before being waived in March. He grew up in Westchester and carries prior experience under Mike Brown in Sacramento. Len, 32, spent much of his career with the Kings. Neither veteran is eligible for a two-way deal due to service time.

Moves That Didn’t Happen

The Knicks also held a workout with Dennis Smith Jr. But they opted against bringing him to camp. The decision reflects the crowded backcourt picture and the emphasis on depth pieces who fit the team’s win-now window.

A Knicks Training Camp Roster Built On Pressure

The Knicks enter camp knowing the stakes. Every slot matters as the franchise toes the second apron. The flurry of signings underscores a hard truth: this is a team where competition is relentless and patience is thin.

The Knicks training camp squad is now complete. What remains is the battle for survival.
