The New York Knicks signed Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon to one-year deals this week, but they will only be able to keep one once the regular season starts unless they made a trade to create roster flexibility clear of the second apron.
The Knicks have begun to explore possible trades for a scenario where they can roster both Shamet and Brogdon. The Knicks could trade Pacome Dadiet, who was a first round pick by the team in 2024.
New York is expected to lean more on veteran depth this season under Mike Brown. The Knicks previously added Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele this offseason.
The Knicks also considered signing Ben Simmons and Thomas Bryant in free agency before moving forward with their deals for Shamet and Brogdon.
