The New York Knicks have used the first three preseason games to get everyone ramped up for the regular season. The starters have seen a good amount of action as they get themselves ready for the 2025-26 season.
Knicks could rest starters against Wizards

However, Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards could feature a different type of rotation. According to the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy, the Knicks might consider resting some starters Monday night.
The Knicks have a super deep bench, but will eventually need to start making roster cuts as they finalize the roster. Therefore, this game could serve as a game for those bench players to have one final opportunity to make a name for themselves.
The Knicks have decisions to make on some players
Some notable names who are on non-guaranteed contracts currently include Malcolm Brogdon, Garrison Mathews, and Landry Shamet. All three have had a strong preseason, but the Knicks need to make room on the roster if they want to keep them.

The younger players have been floated around as trade targets, most notably Tyler Kolek and Pacome Dadiet. New York doesn’t have a clear path to playing time for either player, so moving on from them may be the best course of action.
It is unclear what the rotation will look like on Monday against Washington, but expect the bench to get the bulk of the minutes as they prepare to make their final roster cuts.
