One more dub, and it’s on, baby.

The Knicks did it. The Knicks defeated the reigning champs, inside Madison Square Garden, in a second-round series in which they were the clear-cut underdogs.

New York leads 3-1 entering Game 5 at TD Garden in Boston following Monday’s 121-113 victory, and they will face a hurt Celtics team going forward after Jayson Tatum (prayers up!) suffered a horrible injury at the end of Game 4.

Here’s what Coach Thibs and a few other folks said before and after yesterday’s fever dream.

Tom Thibodeau

On OG Anunoby’s Game 4:

“I thought OG gave us a huge game. Just the toughness, the timely plays, flying all over the place. … He’s so disruptive. And when you’re guarding a guy like [Jayson] Tatum, there’s a lot of stuff he has to navigate through.”

On Mitchell Robinson’s impact:

“It’s the pressure he’s putting on the rim, and then the threat of the offensive rebounds and the extra possessions and what that means to the team and the value that it brings to the team. He and Jalen [Brunson] connected on a lob. I think that having that pressure there is huge for our team, and there’s not really a stat for that, but what it does is it creates advantages for us.”

On Brunson’s clutch performance:

“Just reading the game. He knew that we needed to be aggressive, and I thought that helped set the tone for what we’re trying to do. It’s just the way he’s wired. A lot of poise under pressure. His confidence I think is always super high just because of the way he prepares and the way he works.”

On defending against the Celtics’ threes:

“When you’re playing a 3-point-shooting team like that, there’s gonna be variances in the game. There’s runs, and you can’t go away. You gotta keep fighting. … We have to have the determination to come back and do it over and over again and stick together.”

Karl-Anthony Towns talks about Mitchell Robinson’s contributions to the win tonight:

“Shout-out to him, man. Maybe he deserves those pickup trucks” pic.twitter.com/v5lS2Rexs0

Karl-Anthony Towns

On praying for Tatum:

“I just put my head down and prayed to my mother, prayed to God, to put protection over him and comfort. Whatever the injury may be, I hope it’s minor. Whatever the process he has to go through, hopefully, it’s a quick, painless process and (we) see him back in the NBA. The NBA needs that kind of superstar talent that he is. I know we’re competing at the highest level in the playoffs, but this is a brotherhood.”

On Tatum’s superb performance:

“I’m not going to lie man, Tatum was hitting some shots. That’s all I could do. Shoutout to him.”

On the Knicks’ Game 4 performance:

“I thought we did a great job. [The Celtics] came out with a bunch of energy. They executed at a high level to start the game. I felt we did a great job staying strong, staying disciplined. This team believes in each other and found ourselves executing, doing what we had to do to win.”

On defending the glass better in Game 4:

“I thought we did a great job of executing. They’re the defending champions, they have some of the most talented players in the NBA. You gotta make sure they only get one chance at a shot. Trying to make sure they don’t get second-chance points.”

On Mitchell Robinson:

“He’s special, man. When you’re playing against him, you understand what he brings to the team. And when you’re playing as one of his teammates, you see even more the magnitude, the impact he has on the game. He was just special tonight, doing everything we needed him to do. Whether it was guarding guards, guarding their big men, or also getting big rebounds, alley-oops, timely baskets. He was able to do

On Brunson’s clutch play:

“Honestly, do we all expect anything less? I expect nothing less from Cap. It gets to the fourth quarter, and he’s a bad, bad man when it comes to the fourth quarter and clutch points. You get in those moments, we all trust our talent, we know what we all can do, but man, it’s special when you get to watch him doing that in the fourth quarter.”

Jalen Brunson on Mitchell Robinson’s return from injury:

“He was working his tail off to get back. Obviously we love what he does, but him having his joy and being back and just being around and contributing, that’s what we were most happy to see” pic.twitter.com/GTlhErAdYk

Jalen Brunson

On Tatum’s injury:

“Prayers out to JT, man, first and foremost. Praying for the best.”

On Game 4—and all others—being a must-win:

“I mean, every game is a must-win. Every game is a critical game in the playoffs. It doesn’t matter what game it is. Every game is a must-win or a critical game.”

On the meaning of winning Game 4 and taking a 3-1 lead:

“It means a lot. A good game for us. It’s the way we responded that I’m the most proud of.”

On the need to stay focused after going up 3-1:

“I was actually telling everyone to get off the court. I was like, it’s nothing to celebrate.”

On pulling off another comeback win:

“The way we responded is what I’m most proud of. Sticking together. Most of all, not quitting.”

On the team’s improved focus and mindset entering a pivotal Game 4:

“I think [tonight] was a sense of urgency, desperation. Knowing that we had a great opportunity against a really good team. I don’t even think we’re playing our best basketball yet. We have a team that’s still fairly new this year, and we have a long way to go be the best team we can be. There’s always time to learn for us. We’re never satisfied, and that’s the mentality.”

On keeping up his supreme production in the clutch, even facing top defenders:

“It’s easier said than done. One thing I have to do is respect my opponent. Knowing that it’s not going to be easy, it’s going to be tough. … But not that you’re afraid to do so. I’m going to go out there and give it everything I’ve got. And both for myself and my team, for the best chance to win a game. And it’s as simple as that.”

Mikal Bridges on Jalen Brunson:

“He knows what he likes on the court, where he wants to get to. I really think it’s the will to win and wanting to win the game that he turns up another level. Glad he’s on my side” pic.twitter.com/6EaEusFXvI

On the Game 4 second-half rally:

“We’ve been down way worse before. Just [wanted to] come out with an edge, and don’t let up and don’t let them get the lead even higher. Just stay the course, one possession at a time, and that’s what we did.”

On Boston’s early threes burying the Knicks:

“Early on, [there was] miscommunication in transition. Derrick White got a lot of looks. As the game came on, they made a lot of tough shots. We can live with that. But early, having early struggles offensively, we can’t let that happen on the other end.”

On team’s ever-growing chemistry:

“It took us all a little while to figure out how to play off each other. Everyone wanted us to show success early on, but it took us some time to figure it out.”

On Brunson’s leadership:

“Times being tough like that, you know he’s going to never dwell from the moment, he’s going to stay locked in and get us there. He just wants to win. How he works, and he knows what he likes on the court, where he wants to get to. But I really think it’s the will to win and wanting to win a game that he turns up another level because he doesn’t want to lose. It’s great to watch and I’m glad he’s on my side.”

Mitchell Robinson

On the MSG crowd:

“It was crazy. I think it was way crazier than the other playoffs that we’d been in before, but this one definitely No. 1.”

On his offensive rebounding:

“That’s one of my strengths. That’s what I go for and I got a couple of them.”

Josh Hart “JB…KAT…OG…Mikal…And shoutout PJ Tucker, making sure we’re up & talking. Brought that championship pedigree to us. Deserves a big shoutout”

Alan Hahn “Did PJ have a speech or something?”

Josh “He always talks to us. He’s a champion, & he’s bringing that mentality” pic.twitter.com/dv1GdaA1A0

On the importance of the Game 4 win:

“No statement. No statement. We’re a good team. We’ve known that all year. We’ve just got to build from this. Obviously, we’re up 3–1, but that doesn’t mean anything.”

On Mikal Bridges’ performance:

“I’m so proud of him as a teammate, as a friend, going through all the adversity that he’s gone through this season. He’s never complained. He always comes to work happy, smiling. He deserves his credit and his flowers.”

On the second-half effort to pull off the dub:

“Coming out of halftime we knew we had to really bring it, and that’s what we did.”

“I thought their pressure took us out of a lot of our actions and took away our rhythm. We have to fix that for next game.”

Joe Mazzulla

On not being able to use the Hack-a-Mitch strategy thanks to Thibs’ adjustment:

“They weren’t in the bonus as much as [they] were in other [games]. They did a good job of taking him out right before. The opportunities didn’t present itself as much as it did the other [three] games.”

On OG Anunoby’s scoring:

“For sure, he’s a great offensive player and has the ability to impact the game in different ways. If you do a breakdown of his points, you try to take away the ones you can control the most, which is the transition, the stuff off the offensive rebounds and the catch-and-shoot.”

On Tatum’s injury:

“It’s tough to watch a guy like him get carried off like that. Obviously, you’re always worried about someone’s health, so the fact that he had to be carried off, he’s the type of guy that gets right up.”

On the Celtics’ mindset moving forward:

“They’ll be ready. That’s just who they are. It’s been that way. It’s the locker room that they have, and they’ll be ready. You trust the character of the guys in moments like this, and you take it one game at a time.”

On the Celtics blowing leads one time after another:

“I didn’t know that. So I haven’t put too much thought into that. That’s important—to get off to a good start, but as you’ve seen in this series, we also have to end well. So just trying to play balanced basketball throughout is what we’re talking about the most.”

On his performance and atmosphere:

“It felt good. It was amazing and an electric [atmosphere]. We played hard and got stops and got out in transition and scored. We didn’t lay down. It was tough, they were up a little bit. Things were going their way, they weren’t going our way, but we just kept fighting.”

On his hamstring scare:

“[It] felt a little weird [in the first quarter] but [I’m] OK.”

“It’s tough. There’s not really a lot to say.”

Jaylen Brown

On Tatum’s injury:

“It’s tough. There’s not really a lot to say.”

On the aftermath of the injury and the loss:

“I think everybody’s concerned with Jayson. I’m not sure how bad it is. Didn’t look great. But I think everybody is kind of more concerned with that. Obviously, the loss is huge. But we’ve got to get ready for Game 5, so we’ll take the night and pick our heads up tomorrow and put together a game plan to come out on our own floor to keep this series alive.”

Al Horford

On Tatum’s injury:

“The loss is the loss. More importantly, it’s Jayson that I’m worried about. Just making sure that I’m there for him, and that’s my priority.”

On team mindset going forward:

“It’s very concerning. Just from the care that I have for him and what he means to us, what he means to Boston. Just very tough for us. More importantly, it’s just really tough for him right now. Let’s see what happens. Just is very tough for our group altogether.”
