New York Knicks big man Guerschon Yabusele was recently interviewed by Ouest France, a media outlet from his home country. One of the topics discussed was Yabusele’s so-far limited role in his first year with the Knicks.
“I don’t want to lie to you, it’s very difficult,” Yabusele said. “I’m a competitor first. It’s not a situation I thought (I would be in) coming here.”
Yabusele had what he described as a “complicated” communication with the Knicks coaching staff, led by head coach Mike Brown. Previously, Brown had said he’d be “patient” with Yabusele, as the big man adjusted to his new team.
For his part, Yabusele is remaining positive and prepared for whatever role comes his way.
“I try to be ready whenever my name is called,” Yabusele said. “I try to control my impact on the court, no matter how much time I get.”
