Less than a month removed from the firing of Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks have reportedly found their next head coach.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Knicks are expected to land two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown who last coached the Sacramento Kings before the team decided to go in a different direction last December.
“Knicks president Leon Rose underwent a thorough process since the firing of Tom Thibodeau,” Shams reported. “The Knicks requested permission to speak with five NBA head coaches and were denied, then interviewed several available coaches and went through multi-round stages with candidates.”

“Will let this play out before having a strong opinion,” another person shared. “Could be incredible, could be Thibs-lite. We’ll see. Giving the front office the benefit of the doubt. Looking forward to finding out who’s [on] his staff.”
“A good coach, for my money, the best of the available options for New York,” Billy Reinhardt explained. “That being said, I don’t see how Mike Brown is an upgrade on Tom Thibodeau.”
Brown is a four-time champion as a top assistant on Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich’s coaching staffs and has coached some of the game’s biggest superstars in Steph Curry, Tim Duncan, LeBron James and the late Kobe Bryant.
The 55-year-old was reportedly the only Knicks candidate to receive multiple interviews for the job.
