Yankees re-sign LHP Ryan Yarbrough

December 31, 2025 by YES Network

The New York Yankees announced that they have re-signed left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough to a one-year Major League contract.

Yarbrough, 33, went 3-1 with one save and a 4.36 ERA (64.0IP, 58H, 31R/ER, 19BB, 55K, 13HR) in 19 games (eight starts) for the Yankees in 2025. As a starter, he went 3-1 with a 3.83 ERA (40.0IP, 34H, 17R/ER, 11BB, 33K, 7HR), allowing two runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts and one run or fewer in five of those starts. He held left-handed batters to a .198/.216/.360 (17-for-86, 4HR) slash line.

Over parts of eight Major League seasons (2018-25) with the Tampa Bay Rays (2018-22), Kansas City Royals (2023), Los Angeles Dodgers (2023-24), Toronto Blue Jays (2024) and Yankees (2025), Yarbrough has gone 56-41 with one complete game, four saves and a 4.22 ERA (832.0IP, 790H, 413R/390ER, 196BB, 654K, 112HR) in 215 games (76 starts). He has held left-handed batters to a .207/.269/.343 (173-for-835) slash line in his career.

The Austin, Texas, native was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fourth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Old Dominion University (Va.). He was acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays along with OF Mallex Smith and INF Carlos Vargas in exchange for LHP Drew Smyly on Jan. 11, 2017. Yarbrough signed a Major League contract with the Kansas City Royals on Dec. 13, 2022. He was then acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers from Kansas City in exchange for INF/OF Derlin Figueroa and INF Devin Mann on Aug. 1, 2023. On July 30, 2024, he was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the Dodgers in exchange for OF Kevin Kiermaier and cash considerations. The left-hander signed a Minor League contract with the Blue Jays on Feb. 21, 2025 and exercised an opt-out on March 23, 2025. He signed a Major League contract with the Yankees on March 24, 2025.
