Top 10 Minnesota Twins of all time

March 18, 2024 by The Sports Fan Journal

Today we will take a look back at the top ten Minnesota Twins players of all-time.

10) Torri Hunter

Hunter was an All-Star center fielder for 11 seasons with the Twins and won seven Gold Glove awards during that time. Hunter quickly became fan favorites and was always someone fans turned to when their game was on the line.

9) Joe Nathan

Nathan holds both single-season saves (47 in 2009) and career saves records (260).

8) Frank Viola

Viola won the AL Cy Young award in 1988 and led the Twins to victory in the 1987 World Series. An innings-eater, Viola pitched over 200 innings every year except his initial season with them.

7) Kent Hrbek

Hrbek wasn’t exactly Babe Ruth, but he did help the Twins win two World Series championships thanks to his consistent power-hitting.

6) Bert Blyleven

Won 149 of his 287 victories while wearing their uniform and pitched 141 complete games in their baseball history.

5) Joe Mauer

Mauer became the face of Minnesota Twins franchise during his entire 13-year career and earned seven All-Star selections, five Silver Slugger awards, three AL Batting titles and was honored as AL MVP in 2009. Mauer played all his MLB innings with Minnesota and had an.309 lifetime batting average.

4) Tony Oliva

Oliva In 15 seasons with the Twins, Oliva amassed a 304 career batting average. In addition to this honor, he earned eight All-Star selections, was named AL Rookie of the Year in 1964, and garnered votes for AL MVP on eight separate occasions.

3) Rod Carew

Carew was one of baseball’s great hitters and was honored with an AL MVP award in 1977. Additionally, Carew won Rookie of the Year honors in 1967 before making 12 All-Star teams over his tenure with the Twins with an average batting average of.344.

2) Harmon Killebrew

Killebrew was an 11-time All-Star who won an AL MVP Award and received votes for it ten other seasons – an achievement so exceptional that, although he played for Kansas City Royals instead of Minnesota Twins at that time, their jersey was retired upon his final trip back home on his final visit; something to remember him by even while he was competing elsewhere!

1) Kirby Puckett

Kirby Puckett was an iconic player for the Twins during his 17-year career. Known as a fan favorite, Puckett helped lead them to two World Series victories during that period and was honored as a 10-time All-Star, six-time Silver Slugger award recipient, six-time Gold Glove award recipient, nine times received votes for AL MVP award voting, was third in voting for 1984 AL Rookie of Year and hit for an average batting average of.318 over his entire career – 2,304 hits with 2304 hits, 207 home runs and 1085 runs batted in.
