Meet the Mets
Following a disappointing series loss to the Diamondbacks, the Mets started their road trip with a much-needed rebound win against the Cardinals. Despite falling behind early, the Amazins took a lead that they would not relinquish with a four-run fifth inning, with the first two runs coming off a home run from Pete Alonso. They continued to add runs from there (most notably with a home run from Brandon Nimmo, who reached base each time he came to the plate last night), Clay Holmes tossed six innings of three-run ball, and the bullpen combo of José Buttó and Ryne Stanek pitched three scoreless innings to close out the 9-3 victory.
