Your Tuesday morning dose of New York Mets and MLB news, notes, and links.

Meet the Mets

The Mets kicked off their three-game series against the Angels with a 7-5 win, thanks in large part to some really poor defense on the part of their opponents. The Mets fell behind 4-0, as Kodai Senga lasted just three innings and saw his streak of 31 starts without allowing more than three earned runs come to an end. Brett Baty cut the deficit in half in the fourth with a two-run homer and, after the Angels added a run in the seventh, the Mets tied it up in the bottom half of the frame with three runs, two of which came on a Juan Soto game-tying hit. The Mets went ahead in the seventh as Chris Taylor misplayed a ball at the right field wall for a Francisco Alvarez double, and Yoán Moncada threw a ball wide to home that Logan O’Hoppe could not catch, allowing the go-ahead run to score. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
