Meet the Mets
On a day the Mets desperately needed length from their starting pitcher, Marcus Stroman certainly delivered and then some. He pitched eight shutout innings and allowed just one hit in the series finale against the Reds. He got plenty of offensive support with blasts by Jonathan Villar, Dominic Smith, and Luis Guillorme. Smith had the biggest blast which was a grand slam that put the Mets up big early and the team cruised to an easy victory. They now have a much-needed off day before heading home to play the Blue Jays.
Despite Stroman’s brilliant performance, the team still needs help in the rotation and should make a move before the deadline, especially since Carlos Carrasco was shaky in his latest rehab start and the team has pushed back his return.

Dominic Smith’s grand slam continued his recent stretch of hot hitting where he has 14 RBIs in the last 17 games.

Despite having ample opportunities to win, the Phillies were walked off by the Yankees in the tenth inning.
