Meet the Mets
The Mets walloped the Nationals 19-5 to pick up a split in their four-game wraparound series. Hard as it is to believe, this was a 3-0 game heading into the sixth inning, and that’s when the Mets turned it on. Brandon Nimmo, specifically, drove in nine of the 16 runs scored between the sixth and ninth inning, tying a franchise mark set by Carlos Delgado in 2008 for a single game. Old friend Amed Rosario pitched the ninth inning and served up a three-run homer to Mark Vientos which, fun fact, is the first three-run homer of Vientos’ career. Jeff McNeil also hit a solo shot in the fifth. José Ureña, in his first appearance as a Met, allowed five runs over the final three innings, which was good enough to pick up the save in the blowout.

With their resounding victory, the Mets became the first club to 20 wins this season.
The Mets found their way at the top of the MLB Power Rankings for the first time in 2025.
Paul Blackburn will throw a bullpen at Citi Field today after throwing yesterday. In addition, Frankie Montas is throwing at 120 feet while Sean Manaea threw from 75 feet and will soon throw at back-to-back days.

The Braves defeated the lowly Rockies 6-3, handing Colorado their 24th loss in 28 games to kick off the season.
The Braves brought back Eddie Rosario, who was their 2021 NLCS MVP during their World Series run. In a corresponding move, they optioned Jarred Kelenic to Triple-A.
MLB’s pay gap has never been wider or more evident, and that is clear in the Marlins ($69 million payroll) facing the Dodgers ($476 million payroll).
Speaking of, the Dodgers walked off the Marlins 7-6 in ten innings. Tommy Edman, who sat to start the game, provided the game-winning hit in extras.
