Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (31-44/23-7)

SYRACUSE 2, BUFFALO 1 (BOX)

With the Mets having traded away rotation-mate Blade Tidwell, Brandon Sproat continued his recent excellent run with nine strikeouts, three walks, and no runs allowed in five innings of work. And with the Mets having chosen not to trade for any starting pitchers, Sproat’s 0.55 ERA over his past six starts should have him on the Mets’ radar for a shot at his major league debut sometime soon after Nolan McLean gets his.

At the plate, Syracuse scored once early with a Luis De Los Santos double in the top of the second. And a single to left field from Yonny Hernández combined with an error by Buffalo’s left fielder plated De Los Santos with what turned out to be the game-winning run in the top of the eighth, as the Syracuse bullpen was mostly excellent in relief of Sproat.

POSTPONED: RAIN

With rain in the area all day yesterday, Binghamton’s game was postponed and will be made up as part of a doubleheader starting at 4:00 PM EDT on Saturday.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (46-20*/14-19)

BROOKLYN 4, JERSEY SHORE 0 (BOX)

A.J. Ewing’s three-hit night led the way for the Cyclones at the plate, and Boston Baro opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Ewing singled in the first of Brooklyn’s three runs in the bottom of the sixth before a run scored when Eli Serrano III grounded into a double play and Marco Vargas singled in the third and final run of the frame.

Will Watson went five-and-one-third innings without allowing a run, albeit with four walks to his five strikeouts, and the Cyclones’ pair of relievers combined for seven strikeouts and three walks in 3.2 innings.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (34-31*/23-9)

ST. LUCIE 10, JUPITER 5 (BOX)

After taking a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third, St. Lucie fell behind as Jose Guevara gave up all five of his earned runs in the bottom of that inning. But he threw a scoreless fourth, and three relievers combined to blank Jupiter the rest of the way.

A three-run top of the seventh that featured a sac fly from Trey Snyder and a two-run single by Randy Guzman tied things up. And a four-run top of the eighth put St. Lucie ahead for good on a unique combination of plays: an error, a sac fly, a bases loaded walk, and a rare sac fly double play that saw one run score before Snyder was thrown out at home plate.

St. Lucie tacked on one run in top of then ninth when Simon Juan hit a home run for the team’s tenth and final run of the game.
