Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!
Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (31-44/15-6)
SYRACUSE 8, NORFOLK 6 (BOX)
Another home run for Francisco Alvarez in an 8-6 win over the Tides. “The Best” has hit 11 homers in 16 Triple-A games, and he’s now on his way back to the big leagues. The contact rates have ticked up from “literally as bad as possible” to simply “disastrous” (4th percentile Z-contact), but the approach change has clearly done wonders for Alvarez’s power output. Hopefully he can find a happy middle ground without falling back into the habits imparted in him last time he was in the bigs. Jose Butto also tossed a scoreless inning and seems to be close to a return to the major leagues as well.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (45-22*/14-7)
BINGHAMTON 12, NEW HAMPSHIRE 9 (BOX)
Fresh off a very impressive showing at Future’s Game BP, Carson Benge has returned to Binghamton and continued to rake. He was on base three more times today, raising his OPS in Double-A over 1.000. Jacob Reimer, a top-60 prospect per Baseball Prospectus, also had a big day, homering and doubling (though he did make an error in the process). Less pretty on the mound today, but Binghamton’s second half is starting to feel a lot like Brooklyn’s first.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (46-20*/12-12)
BROOKLYN 13, HUB CITY 3 (BOX)
Brooklyn managed three separate four-run innings, always a fun time. Every Cyclone had at least hit, with Ronald Hernandez’s three-hit performance leading the way. On the mound, Nate Dohm was excellent again, though it was only over two innings. Ditto Frank Elissalt, though his two-inning appearance is more in line with what you expect from him.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (34-31*/15-8)
PALM BEACH 3, ST. LUCIE 2 (BOX)
Jace Hampson’s first full-season outing was less than a success; four innings, three runs, three walks, only two strikeouts. St. Lucie wasn’t able to bounce back from that despite a homer from Vincent Perozo. There’s still a lot to be excited about here – Hampson was fantastic in the Complex and is another breakout arm from the the 2024 class – but there’s still some work to do here clearly.
