Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!

*All results from games played on Tuesday, July 20, 2021

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (23-43)

BUFFALO 14, SYRACUSE 1 (BOX)

The good news is that Carlos Carrasco participated in a real live baseball game. The bad news is that he looked awful, and Syracuse lost 14-1. Carrasco gave up five runs on three hits and three walks without getting out of the second inning, a concerning sign given that the Mets could really use him, even in a limited-inning role right now. Jesus Reyes was bad in bulk relief work as well, and the Mets managed only one run on an Albert Almora home run. Drew Jackson, a minor league Rule 5 draft pick as a shortstop, got on the mound for the last inning and gave up four runs. That should tell you all you need to know about the state of the organization’s pitching depth at the moment.

  • LF Mason Williams: 0-4, K
  • CF Albert Almora Jr.: 1-4, R, HR (4), RBI
  • C Patrick Mazeika: 1-4

  • RHP Drew Jackson: 1.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (24-40)

ERIE 12, BINGHAMTON 7 (BOX)

Erie scored eight runs in the third and three more in the fourth to put this game well out of site, even after a five run rally for Binghamton in the sixth. Luc Rennie and Ryley Gilliam both got shelled, rendering the rest of the pitching performance largely irrelevant. Carlos Cortes and Wagner Lagrange both went deep, while Brett Baty went hitless with a pair of walks.

  • RF Carlos Cortes: 1-5, R, HR (11), 3 RBI, K
  • CF Jake Mangum: 0-4, BB, K
  • 3B Mark Vientos: 1-3, R, 2 BB
  • LF Brett Baty: 0-3, R, 2 BB, 2 K

  • RHP Tom Hackimer: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (23-42)

BROOKLYN 8, WILMINGTON 6 (BOX)

Brooklyn managed eight runs between the third and fourth innings and clung on to that lead to top Wilmington 8-6 despite managing only five hits. Francisco Alvarez went deep, a three-run shot, while Ronny Mauricio tallied three RBI of his own as two of the Mets top-4 prospects powered the Cyclones’ offense. The pitching performance was unremarkable, with Jaison Vilera getting the win after a bad five-inning start (abolish the win).

  • CF Antoine Duplantis: 0-5, R, RBI, K
  • 2B Edgardo Fermin: 0-2, R, BB, K
  • PH-2B Luis Gonzalez: 0-1
  • SS Ronny Mauricio: 2-4, R, 3 RBI

  • RHP Josh Hejka: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, S (1)

Low-A: St. Lucie Mets (35-32)

BRADENTON 8, ST. LUCIE 6 (BOX)

It has happened! After 209 AB, Jaylen Palmer’s home run drought finally ended, as he launched a solo shot in the sixth inning. Alex Ramirez also had an exciting day, tallying two doubles in four at bats. The Mets lost anyway, however, as the pitching continued to struggle at all levels of the minors.

  • DH Jaylen Palmer: 1-5, R, HR (1), RBI, 2 K
  • RF Omar De Los Santos: 3-5, R, K, SB (3), CS (1)
  • 3B Jose Peroza: 1-5, R, 2 K
  • 1B Warren Saunders: 0-3, R, RBI, BB
  • CF Alex Ramirez: 2-4, 2 2B, RBI, K
  • 2B Jimmy Titus: 0-3, R, BB, K
  • LF Brandon McIlwain: 0-2, R, 2 BB, 2 K
  • C Matt O’Neill: 1-2, 2 RBI, 2 BB, K

  • RHP Luis Moreno: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, L (2-2)

  • RHP Nolan Clenney: 0.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
  • RHP Justin Dillon: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Colin Holderman: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

ROSTER ALERT: Brooklyn Cyclones sent RHP Joe Cavallaro on a rehab assignment to St. Lucie Mets.
