Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (31-44/12-5)

LEHIGH VALLEY 11, SYRACUSE 9 (BOX)

The IronPigs jumped all over Cameron Foster early, chasing him out of the game in the first inning. Lehigh Valley scored six runs in total in the first and went silent long enough for Syracuse to claw their way back into this one. In the bottom of the first Pablo Reyes drove in a run, and in the bottom of the fourth, Drew Gilbert slugged his tenth homer of the season to close the gap and make it a 6-3 ballgame. The Syracuse bats unfortunately went silent after that, while the IronPigs found new life and had another big inning, this time scoring five runs in the seventh off of a combined effort from Justin Garza and Julian Merryweather. Syracuse did not go silently into the humid night, with Francisco Alvarez launching a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, launching a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, and Gilbert plating one an RBI double. Alvarez and Gilbert have been enfuego as of late, but the comeback fell just short.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (45-22*/12-5)

ALTOONA 4, BINGHAMTON 1 (BOX)

With Jonah Tong away at the Futures Game, Jack Wenninger had a chance to make people put some respect on his name…but alas, it didn’t exactly work out like that. Coming off his best start of the season, and of one of his best starts as a professional, the right-hander couldn’t keep the momentum going, allowing four earned runs over five innings. Wenninger didn’t have a catastrophic afternoon, but he didn’t have his best stuff and his command was off, as evidenced by three walks and three wild pitches. The loss, which snapped Binghamton’s six-game win streak, wasn’t on him alone; the offense went 2-12 and left 9 men on base. It wasn’t all doom and gloom through. After a rough couple of weeks, Jett Williams added three more hits- including one double- and a stolen base to his tally on what is looking very much like a Player of the Week contending week for him.

  • CF Jett Williams: 3-5, 2B, K, SB (26)
  • RF Nick Morabito: 1-4, K, SB (33)
  • DH Ryan Clifford: 0-3, R, BB, 2 K

  • LF D’Andre Smith: 1-4, RBI, K
  • 1B Nick Lorusso: 0-4, K
  • C Matt O’Neill: 0-2, BB, HBP
  • SS William Lugo: 0-4, 2 K
  • 2B Wyatt Young: 0-4, K
  • RHP Jack Wenninger: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 3 WP, L (8-6)
  • RHP Carlos Guzman: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Anthony Nunez: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Ryan Lambert: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (46-20*/11-9)

BROOKLYN 2, WILMINGTON 0 (BOX)

Noah Hall and Blue Rocks starter Jackson Kent both had excellent starts. Hall tossed seven scoreless innings, scattering two hits, walking one, and striking out four, while Kent threw six scoreless, allowing three hits, walking three, and striking out five. Suffice to say, with both pitchers mowing down batter after batter after batter, this game went fast. In the bottom of the eighth, Christoper Suero doubled in Marco Vargas to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead and a few batters later, a Colin Houck sac fly made it 2-0. Chandler Marsh hit a batter in the ninth but threw an otherwise clean inning, shutting the door on a crisp, two-hour ballgame.

  • SS Marco Vargas: 3-4, R, K, SB (27)
  • LF Chris Suero: 1-3, R, 2B, RBI, BB, K, SB (25)
  • CF Eli Serrano III: 1-3, BB
  • 3B Colin Houck: 0-2, RBI, BB, K
  • 2B Boston Baro: 0-4, 3 K
  • C Ronald Hernandez: 0-2, BB, K
  • 1B Corey Collins: 0-2, K, HBP, CS (1)
  • DH Jefrey De Los Santos: 0-3, K
  • RF Troy Schreffler Jr.: 0-3
  • RHP Noah Hall: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Chandler Marsh: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, HBP, W (3-0)

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (34-31*/13-6)

ST. LUCIE 6, BRADENTON 5 / 10 (BOX)

Bradenton took the nickel-and-dime route while St. Lucie took the big inning route, but both teams were tied at 4 apiece by the time and ninth inning rolled around. The Mets went down 1-2-3 in the top of the inning, and while the Marauders showed a little life, they couldn’t score either. Into the tenth we went and Vincent Perozo wasted no time, hitting an RBI double that scored the phantom runner at second, giving the Mets a 5-4 lead. Kevin Villavicencio drove him home on a sac fly and that insurance run would prove critical as the Marauders started the bottom of the inning with an RBI double as well. Juan Arnaud made the rest of the inning interesting, putting the tying and winning runs in scoring position, but was able to reach down and induce a groundball and an infield fly to end the ballgame.

  • SS Trey Snyder: 0-4, 2 BB, 2 K, SB (25)
  • 3B Jeremy Rodriguez: 1-5, BB, 2 K, SB (20)
  • C Daiverson Gutierrez: 2-3, R, RBI, 2 BB, SB (3)
  • DH Trace Willhoite: 0-4, R, BB, 2 K
  • RF Yohairo Cuevas: 0-4, BB, 2 K

  • 1B Vincent Perozo: 1-3, R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB, K
  • CF Simon Juan: 0-5, 3 K
  • 2B Kevin Villavicencio: 2-4, R, RBI
