Mets Daily Prospect Report, 6/21/25: Rehabbing Mets shine for Syracuse

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (30-43)

GAME 1: SYRACUSE 10, JACKSONVILLE 6 (COMPLETION OF 6/19 SUSPENDED GAME) (BOX)

Brandon Sproat pitched one inning on Thursday before this game was suspended by rain and Sean Manaea took the mound to begin the resumption of the game last night as a rehab outing. In encouraging news for the Mets, Manaea was sharp, giving up just one run on two hits through 5 1⁄3 innings, striking out seven batters and walking none. Also on rehab, Mark Vientos hit a game-tying, bases clearing double for Syracuse in the fourth. Old friend Travis Jankowski hit a grand slam in the seventh to help propel Syracuse to victory.

After an exciting back-and-forth victory in Game 1, Syracuse laid a big goose egg in the second game, getting blanked by the Jumbo Shrimp 5-0. Everybody who pitched gave up at least one run except Colin Poche, who contributed two scoreless innings. Syracuse were held to just three hits in the loss.

The Senators dropped a six spot on the Ponies in the first inning, as Joander Suarez lasted just 2⁄3 of an inning and took the loss. Jett Williams and Kevin Parada each collected two hits, but Ryan Clifford had a rough night, taking an 0-fer and striking out three times.

After securing a playoff spot, the Cyclones just keep on rolling. They won this game handily, getting out to an early 3-0 lead and never relinquishing the lead. Joel Díaz had a strong start, twirling five one-hit innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Jesus Baez had another big night, hitting a home run and collecting three RBIs.

Palm Beach scored four runs in the first inning, but St. Lucie responded with a run in the bottom of the frame and a four spot in the bottom of the second to take the lead. They added some insurance in the middle innings, which they turned out to need because Palm Beach had a two-run seventh, but it was too little too late. Kevin Villavicencio and Yonatan Henriquez provided the key hits for St. Lucie in that four-run second inning and Cristofer Gomez contributed two scoreless innings of work with three strikeouts.

The FCL Mets got out to an early 1-0 lead, but ended up falling 2-1 in Game 1 due in part to a costly fielding error by first baseman Randy Guzman in the fourth. That was the only run that would cross the plate with Jonathan Jimenez on the mound and thus it was unearned, but he wound up taking the tough luck loss anyway, despite striking out six batters in four innings.
