The Mets did some more roster churning before their series finale against the Rays today.
Ahead of their series finale against the Rays this afternoon, the Mets optioned right-handed relief pitcher Justin Garza to Triple-A Syracuse and called up fellow right-handed reliever Ty Adcock to take his place on the active roster.
The Mets picked up Garza in a trade with the Giants in exchange for cash a little over a week ago and added him to their major league roster shortly thereafter. In 3.2 innings since then, he has a 0.00 ERA and a 1.98 FIP. With the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate, he had a 6.11 ERA and a 5.57 FIP in 17.2 innings in the minors before the trade. With options remaining, he figures to be among the pitchers who gets called up and sent down multiple time the rest of the way this season.
Adcock spent part of the 2024 season in the Mets organization, and between a cup of coffee with the team last year and one appearance in which he recorded one out this year, he’s thrown 4.2 innings with a 13.50 ERA as a Met. In Syracuse this year, he has a 4.50 ERA and a 4.40 FIP in 22.0 innings of work.
