The New York Mets‘ blockbuster signing of Carlos Correa is still not yet official. The concern comes from Correa’s well-documented physical.
Obviously, a World Series-hopeful Mets baseball team in need of more bats could certainly use all that Correa provides.
Loads of suspense surrounds this situation and will continue to until something becomes official. Luckily for the Mets, the chances of the deal working out still seem relatively strong.

Mets and Carlos Correa remain hopeful contract will come to fruition:
Late last night, baseball columnist for the New York Post and insider for MLB Network, Jon Heyman, shared some updates on where things currently stand between the Mets and Correa.
“There seems to remain reason for a decent dose of hope. The Mets and Correa’s camp have been said to be trying to work things out since the team mentioned an issue with Correa’s physical examination … The sides seemed excited and motivated to do this deal when it was agreed to, and with the Mets and Correa’s camp said to be ‘working on things’ Saturday, there has appeared to be some optimism things could be worked out.”
Definitely, some encouraging news there from Heyman. Hopefully, the Mets and Correa can make something work imminently.
Correa recently turned 28 years old and is one talented, accomplished player. As Steve Cohen has referred to, the Mets needed more offense this offseason, and Correa is the big piece who can take it over the top. Whether it be his contact (career .279 batting average) or power (six years of 20 or more home runs), with 22 home runs last season, the Mets desperately need things to become finalized with Correa.
On what could end up happening between the Mets and Correa when all is said and done, Heyman stated the following.
“Ultimately, the sides may need to agree on language to protect the Mets, at the least. It isn’t known whether Correa is motivated enough to agree to any sort of reworking of the terms, or even if the Mets will suggest anything along those lines.”
In the end, it does seem most likely that the Mets and Correa would agree on some type of reworked contract. It would be beyond disappointing if all fell through and the two could not make something work. However, it is good to hear from Heyman that the Mets and Correa are optimistic and motivated to get a deal done.
