The Mets made some late roster decisions before putting the final touches on the roster.
The Mets have finally announced their 2025 Opening Day roster, a mere few hours before the first pitch of the season is thrown by Houston Astros lefty Framber Valdez to Francisco Lindor at the newly minted Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
The Mets have a few regulars that will start on the injured list, but on the whole the roster is not terribly surprising. Starting pitchers Sean Manaea (right oblique strain), Frankie Montas (right lat strain), Paul Blackburn (right knee inflammation) will begin the season on the 15-day injured list. On the offensive side of the ball, second baseman Jeff McNeil (right oblique strain), catcher Francisco Alvarez (hamate fracture), and utility infielder Ronny Maruicio (ACL rehab) were all placed on the 10-day injured list, with the latter being placed on the IL instead of being optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
