The Mest made yet another roster move in their bullpen today.
Before the second of the game of their series against the Yankees got underway this afternoon, the Mets added recently-signed right-handed reliever Zach Pop, who was recently designated for assignment by the Mariners, to their active roster. And the team designated Tyler Zuber for assignment in a corresponding move.
The Mets are on a rather incredible streak of making roster moves on all of their game days going back to June 18, the vast majority of which have involve churning their roster to call up or add players to their rotation or bullpen.
Pop threw 5.1 innings for the Mariners this year with a 13.50 ERA and a 10.96 FIP, alarmingly high numbers in a very small sample. Over the course of his major league career, he has a 4.75 ERA with a 4.56 FIP in 161.0 innings of relief for the Marlins, Blue Jays, and Mariners.
As for Zuber, the Mets picked him up in a trade with the Rays last year in exchange for fellow right-handed reliever Paul Gervase. Zuber has thrown just two major league innings for the Mets, both of which came this year, with a 9.00 ERA. He also has a 6.11 ERA and a 4.70 FIP out of the bullpen for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets in 28.0 innings of work at that level.
