Peterson earns his first All-Star nod, replacing Robbie Ray.
After pitching a gem of a ballgame that unfortunately went sour, on Thursday afternon David Peterson became the 4th Met named to the 2025 All-Star Game. Major League Baseball announced that Peterson was added to the National League’s All-Star reserve roster, replacing the Giants’ Robbie Ray, who is scheduled to pitch on Sunday, and thus would not be available to pitch in Tuesday’s Midsummer Classic.
It is a well earned nod for Peterson, who in 2025 boasts a 3.06 ERA over 109.0 innings pitched, in addition to a 1.24 WHIP and 93 strikeouts. This marks Peterson’s first All-Star selection in his 6th major league season as a starter.
Despite a few rocky outings in the past month, Peterson has quietly emerged as one of consistent starters in the NL, carrying a 2.97 ERA over 39 starts and 230.0 innings dating back to the start of 2024.
He’ll join Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Edwin Diaz as the Mets’ representatives on July 15th in Atlanta.
